We strive to provide strong healthy plants for you to enhance your landscape. Buying such plants is just the first part of your garden success. Along with planting the right plant in the right place, (sun/shade, height, width) and amending the soil with some rich organics. You’ll also get the most out of your new plant(s) by providing them with a constant source of fertilizer to feed and grow. There are many types of fertilizers, organic, in-organic, soluble, fast acting, time release. All kinds of formulas to use depending on your soil analysis. can be a bit confusing and overwhelming. We stock what we think are the best organic and in-organic, (chemical), fertilizers.

HARRELL’S PRO 18/4/10 8-9 month timed release with the minor elements

We are exited to offer HARRELL’S PRO, it is the choice of most of the national nursery’s. You’ve probably bought a plant that you’d see the green fertilizer mixed in the soil when you took it out of the pot. That was Harrell’s. This is a true “once a year” fertilizer for our area, put it on in the spring and it will last through the fall and run out before winter sets in. Another plus about Harrell’s is that you can incorporate it the soil when planting a new plant or add to the top for an existing plant. The BIGGEST benefit for using HARRELL’S is that your plant will have a constant source of food to grow for the entire growing year. I use it on everything here at the nursery. It comes in 50# bags but we sell it in any smaller amount that you might need. I guarantee that you will see a difference in your new and existing plants after using this product. You’ll have happy plants!

PURELY ORGANIC 5/5/4 an ALL natural fertilizer product

Contains a carefully blended combination of alfalfa meal, cotton seed meal, fish meal, feather meal, blood meal, steamed bone meal, soybean meal, finely ground rock phosphate, sul-po-mag, kelp, (seaweed), greensand, and other natural ingredients. NO ACTIVATED SLUDGE!

Organics are better at doing duel work as they feed the plant and they feed the soil and it’s micro-organisms. “Live soil” makes for better plants. This makes it a good choice for those that want to stay all natural. With the increase of soil micros it also complements those needing the extra boost that the chemicals provide by helping to break the chemical fertilizers down. Then the plant can easier take up the nutrients.

ROOT MIX A MIX OF 50% FISH MEAL AND 50% SUPER PHOSPHATE

Add and mix into your planting hole for extra fast root growth to start off new plantings.

PETERS 20/20/20 SOLUBLE

Highly concentrated, use only one teaspoon per gallon compared to most store bought formulas where you use one tablespoon.

AGRICULTURAL GRANULATED LIME

Our sandy soils are as a general rule are acidic with a low PH, adding lime raises the PH over time. A soil PH that is too low or too high ties up the available nutrients in the soil where the plant can’t feed. Roses do best in a PH that is between 6.2-6.5. Other plants vary, like Azaleas and Camellias, they thrive in acidic low PH soil. The best thing to do is contact your local county extension office and get some soil sample bags from them. They’ll send them off to be tested and send you back results with suggestions according to what you’re wanting to plant.

PLANTING MIX

Here in south Georgia we have either clay based soil or in most cases sand based. In both cases you will achieve much better growth results with your new plants if you amend the soil by adding organic material. The planting mix offered here at EbenezerRose is a product produced by Longwood Plantation, a local company with a heralded reputation. The owner of the company prides himself in the science of soil composition and the necessary micro-organisms that bring the soil to life.

Adding organics to your soil produces many benefits:

– increased moisture retention

attracts soil micro-organisms and worms

makes it easier for your plants new roots to grow out

the “live” soil breaks down the nutrients so your plant can absorb the food it needs to prosper

The mix includes at least the following:

-Compost

-Composted pine bark mulch

-Composted cotton seed

-Granite dust

-Peat humus (derived from his own pond)

-Charcoal

-Gypsum

This mix can be used in many different ways:

-I use it in all my nursery pots, I plant every thing in it

-in your planting hole

-to make a raised bed

You can purchase it by the cubic foot in a bag or by the yard in the back of a pick up. I have had great results sense I started using this product and have had a lot of excellent feedback from others that have now used it.
